This year we again attended the annual CeBit expo in Germany (https://www.cebit.de/en). We presented Woshi, our employee scheduling software unique in its use of AI to calculate immediately viable schedules due to its ability to take into account criteria and constraints that routinely (or not so routinely) come up in practice.
We surveyed our competition at CeBit and concluded that there hasn’t been much improvement in this crucial area. Their automatic scheduling is limited to very basic constraints, which means that the result is useless without manual adjustments. If you cannot request that an employee must not work Monday if they worked Sunday, that they must work 4 night shifts Monday-Friday and 3 night shifts on the weekends, that some employees must work at the same time as John and other at the same time as Mary, then the resulting schedule leaves much to be desired.
